Pai Gow Poker is a modern game with ancient origins. Based on the ancient Chinese domino game and the current American adaptation of poker, Pai Gow poker joins the eastern with the west in an excellent game for new gamblers.

Pai Gow is a poker game that puts the player vs. the casino, not like almost all other poker games that players play against other players. By competing against the dealer, beginner players do not need to worry about any other, more knowledgeable players winning their moolla.

Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card common deck and one joker. The player is given 7 cards face up and the dealer receives seven cards face down.

One 5 card hand and a 2 card hand have to be put together from the 7 cards dealt, the five card hand must be higher than the two card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be better than the casino’s.
