Stu is considered by most to the very best NL Texas holdem Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and started wagering poker before reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out betting gin and at the age of ten had won his 1st gin rummy tournament, while on vacation with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker maestro had turned professional and stopped going to school.

In ‘54 Stu entered the history books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York these days.

The fast talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to sporting superstars such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a true talent for wagering poker except despite his achievements in Hold em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there might a number of day be a much better NL Texas hold’em player than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a much better gin player.

In ‘80 Stu was put on the global map as one of the finest Hold em Poker gamblers in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the first time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.
