NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
