Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Amari on Feb.22, 2016, under Poker
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
