Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
