Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Amari on Sep.16, 2021, under Poker
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
