Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
