Internet poker has become world celebrated recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the bank instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the croupier announcing "No more bets." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players receive five cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s value is on same level to your original wager, indicating that the risks will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your ante goes directly to the casino. After the wager comes the showdown. If the house does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, with a sum on par with the ante. If the bank does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The casino pony’s up chips equal to your initial bet and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
