Right Before you Tilt

Ah, the steam. If a poker gambler claims at no time to have looked down the barrel of a looming poker steam – they are either telling a lie or they haven’t been gambling long enough. This does not mean of course that every poker player has been on tilt before, a few players have excellent willpower and carry their squanderings as a hit and leave it at that. To be a brilliant poker gambler, it’s absolutely crucial to appraise your successes and your defeats in an identical manner – with no emotion. You compete in the game the same way you did after taking a tough beat as you would after winning a big hand. Many of the poker pros are not tempted by tilting after a horrible beat as they are incredibly seasoned and you must be to.

You must be certain that you can’t win each hand you are in, regardless if you are heavily favored. Hands that commonly cause players to go on tilt are hands that you were the leading choice or at a minimum thought you were until you were hit and you burned a large portion of your stack. Awful beats are bound to develop. Embrace that certainty right now, I’ll say it once again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your mother enjoys cards, if your grandpa plays cards – We all have bad beats at some point. It is an unavoidable experience of competing in Texas Hold’em, or for that matter any kind of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for one purpose – to make a profit, it certainly makes sense that we will gamble appropriately to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you take a huge hit in a No Limits game and your stack is down to $120. You’ve lost $80 in a hand where you were assured to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and held a ten to one edge. And that fiend! He bled you dry on the river? – Well hold it right here. This is a classic opportunity for a fresh player to start tilting. They really just burned too much cash on one round that they should have won and they’re agitated
