Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Amari on Feb.06, 2024, under Poker
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
